Swift Response Restores Connectivity in Lachen After Tarum Chu Road Breach

A swift and well-coordinated response under the leadership of Area MLA Samdup Lepcha has led to the successful restoration of a temporary footbridge following a recent road breach at Tarum Chu in Lachen.

The restoration work was carried out under the close supervision of Sonam Gyatsho Lachenpa, Chairman of the State Medicinal Plants Board, who actively led teams on the ground to address the situation with urgency and efficiency.

The operation witnessed strong collaboration among key local bodies and stakeholders, including the Lachen Dzumsa, Lachen Youth Development Committee, Lachen Tourism Development Committee, SDPO Chungthang, Lachen Drives, and the Lachen Hotel Association. Their collective efforts played a vital role in restoring connectivity and ensuring the safety of residents and visitors.

Authorities have confirmed that the situation is now under control. Arrangements have been put in place to safely escort and rescue all tourists who were stranded in Lachen, with the evacuation process expected to be completed by tomorrow.
