The police investigation still remains the only hope for giving justice to late Padam Gurung's unnatural death

Namchi, 7th July, 2023: The ongoing investigation on the death of Padam Gurung have led to the drops of liquid datas to circulate through social media sites, and have riled up the students of Sikkim Government College, as well as the public of Namchi to rally in the public this day. While at one hand, Namchi Police have requested the grieving family to trust in their investigation, the students of Sikkim Government College Namchi pursuing bachelor's and master's degree, collected themselves in large numbers in the campus today, and upon being permitted by the college principal to make a peaceful rally, the students rallied from the College upto Kisan Bazar near Central Park, en route to DAC Namchi demanding justice on the death of Padam Gurung. The rallying students have given ultimatum to the police of one week's time, to give a satisfactory report on the investigation, failing to which, the students will come to the road in even bigger numbers, the general secretary of College SRC, Bijay Dahal have said while talking to the media. To add on to the riling up of the public and the hardship in the investigation of Namchi Police a viral mobile phone conversation of an unknown girl to an unknown interrogator, alleged, that the owner of Crossroad Cafe and Lodge of Kazitar, Keshav Thatal, where the incident began, was seen punching Pandam Gurung the night he died, and alleged Padam Gurung to have fallen down the stairs and was seen unable to lift up his body. The conversation have also alleged owner Keshav Thatal as well as a few men loaded the barely moving body of Padam Gurung in a brown car and drove him down the road towards Kazitar, where his body was found the next day. Following this allegation, Keshav Thatal with his families filed a general diary against the Facebook pages for circulating the viral audio mentioned earlier, for defaming his name and his business. His wife have said that Keshav Thatal have been receiving a numerous threatening messages in his mobile phone since yesterday evening, and have promised to bringout the witnesses who were having conversation over the phone. Namchi Police have registered the general diary of Keshav Thatal against the Facebook pages. But, the have asked him to produce his business license after lodging an FIR against his Crossroad Cafe and Lodge for allowing the underage children and students to drink alcohol in his restaurant.

The rallying students led by SRC members, too have relied on the police investigation, and didnot want to disclose the internal disputes of the students. The leaking of videos and audios continues to leak and become viral in different Facebook pages, and the investigation is still going on.
