Namchi, 14th July, 2023: The family of late Padam Gurung, in support of All Sikkim Gurung Tamu Buddhist Association, their relatives, villagers of Chuba Perbing GPU and people from different associations organized a peace rally in Namchi today, and demanded the quick report of his death which is currently under judicial inquiry. The rally that started at around 11am, started from Bhanjyang Road ended in the same place at 3pm. The rally took route of Bhanjyang Road, crossed New Senior Secondary School through connecting road, and rallied through Gangtok Road and Jorethang Road and reached District Hospital and then to DAC Namchi, entered Bhutia Busty and crossed Car Parking Plaza to gather again in Bhanjyang Road till 3pm and the rally ended there. Before the peace rally started from Bhanjyang Road in the morning, some of the supporters of today's rally demanded a visit to the place of death of Padam Gurung, in Kazitar, by atleast 50people. However, when the mass reached the near car parking plaza, they demanded to take off route and visit the place where the body of late Padam Gurung was found, but the police maintained the line of mass control, and only the family members were allowed to visit the place with a few people from the rally. The rally was directed to the authorised areas by police ie, towards Bhanjyang Road, where the rallying mass gathered till 3pm, as was allowed by the authority and dispersed thereafter. The members of All Sikkim Gurung Tamu Buddhist Association have said that they will come out with such peaceful protest and peace rallies until the reports of the death of Padam Gurung was found, and have requested all the people of Sikkim to support in getting justice for his death.
