Ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha's Women wing Nari Shakti has demanded expedite fast-track procedure and death sentence for accused Pritam Sharma (29) who was arrested by police on the charges of sexually assaulting and killing a minor school girl child last week. It was told today during the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) Nari Shakti held a press conference today to condemn the recent murder case and sexual assault of an 11-year-old minor in Pangthang. The organization demanded that the accused be given the death penalty. The General Secretary of SKM Nari Shakti, Pooja Sharma, spoke to the media and expressed her condolences to the family of the victim.
Sharma also said that such incidents should not be politicized and that the criminals responsible for such heinous crimes should be given harsh punishments. SKM Nari Shakti also announced that they will be organizing a candle march this Sunday for the justification of the minor.
President Kala Rai emphasized that the citizens should be aware of such crimes and requested that no lawyer from Sikkim should take up the case. She also demanded that the face of the accused should be shown to the public. She added that a criminal is always a criminal regardless of their caste, religion, or any other background.
District President Chungchung Bhutia addressed the issue of school safety in her statement. She requested the school administrative board to only admit students who reside near the school. She also requested the school security to be vigilant and check the premises of the school after school hours. Additionally, Bhutia urged parents to be more apprehensive about their children’s safety.
SKM Nari Shakti has pledged to work as a citizen and mothers of the society against such heinous crimes. The organization is committed to ensuring that justice is served in the Pangthang minor murder case and that similar crimes are prevented in the future.
