A shocking case of matricide has surfaced in Siliguri, where a son allegedly kil**d his mother in frustration after repeated complaints from neighbors about her frequent altercations under the influence of alcohol.
The incident took place on Tuesday night in Ward No. 1 of Sahani Busty, Rajendra Nagar. The accused, Ajay Mallick, reportedly slit his mother Kaushalaya Mallick’s throat with a knife. In a startling turn of events, he himself called the Pradhan Nagar police station and confessed to the crime.
According to police reports, Ajay, an employee at a private bank in Siliguri, had been living with his mother and younger brother in Sahani Busty for several years. Neighbors revealed that Kaushalaya Mallick was an alcoholic and often engaged in arguments over minor disputes. Ajay, frustrated by the continuous complaints from the neighborhood, allegedly lost control on Tuesday night following a heated argument with his mother. Witnesses stated that Kaushalaya was in an inebriated state when the altercation escalated. Soon after, neighbors were horrified to learn that Ajay had allegedly taken the extreme step, leading to his mother’s tragic demise.
On Wednesday morning, Kaushalaya’s body was shifted from Siliguri Sadar Hospital to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy. The news of the incident spread quickly, drawing a crowd of relatives and neighbors to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Ajay was arrested and presented before the Siliguri court on Wednesday afternoon. Law enforcement authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the crime.
