Pakyong District Police solves two burglary case within 30 hrs. Two arrested with stolen cash and valuables A case of theft was reported from owner of a resort at Pakyong on 20/08/2023. Burglars had broken into the restaurant of the resort at night and taken substantial amount of cash and valuables . Further it was reported that the same persons had committed theft from a nearby petrol pump on that night. Under the direction of SSP/ Pakyong a team consisting of ASP / Pakyong , along with SHO Pradeep Chettri , SI Sangita Khatiwara and plain cloth personnel of Pakyong PS was put on the job to trace out the burglars. The accused could not be identified initially as they had put on face mask and hood to hide their identity. On thorough examination of the crime scene one white sumo taxi was found to be moving in the night suspiciously in both the areas where the theft was committed. After the footages were examined through CCTV forensics analyser and further leads were generated on the suspects and their identification done with help of Sadar PS, Gangtok. Further a sharp vigil was kept on the bordering Rangpo Check post to nab the accused and subsequently one of the main accused, Sonam Sherpa aged about 27 years r/o Gangtok was arrested at Rangpo with the assistance of Rangpo PS to find that he was planning to flee to Nepal. The stolen valuables and cash was recovered from his possession .The other co accused Vivek Chettri @ Badal r/o Gangtok was also arrested from Metro Point Gangtok with the help of Sadar and Ranipool PS team and recovery made . Presently both are in Police custody and is learnt to have initially stolen the tata sumo vehicle to travel to Pakyong and commit the burglary and abandoned it Deorali Taxi stand in the morning. The said vehicle has also been seized as case exhibit. It is learnt that both the duo are habitual offenders and involved in numerous theft cases in Sadar and Singtam PS and are also into substance abuse without any permanent residence. The duo burglary case has been solved within 30 hours by the Pakyong police team and is to be lauded for their efforts .
