Nimsang Limboo of Sikkim Creates History at BRUTE 4.0

23 November 2024, Basar, Arunachal Pradesh: Nimsang Limboo, a talented trail runner from Sidibung Darap, West Sikkim, has achieved yet another historic milestone by breaking his own course record at the 30 km BRUTE 4.0 Trail Run. Limboo completed the demanding race, which included a 1700-meter elevation gain, in an exceptional 2 hours, 58 minutes, and 7 seconds. This remarkable feat improved his previous record by an incredible 45 minutes and secured him the top position in the 30 km men’s category.

The BRUTE 4.0 (Basar Running Ultra Trail Experience), now in its fourth edition, is one of the most prestigious international trail running events in Northeast India. Held annually in Basar, Arunachal Pradesh, the event attracts elite athletes from across the nation and abroad, making Limboo’s victory even more significant. Highlighting Nimsang's growing reputation, Mr. Bikram Thapa, the coordinator of Project Life, announced that he is set to represent India at the renowned UTMB World Series Trail Race in Chiang Mai, Thailand, scheduled for December 5–8, 2024.

As a celebrated athlete of the Hell Race Sports Foundation, one of India’s premier trail-running organizations, Limboo is among only two athletes in the country to receive support from the foundation. His accolades extend beyond national borders, as he is currently the highest-ranked Indian trail runner under the International Trail Running Association (ITRA), boasting the highest ITRA index points.

Nimsang Limboo’s achievements have not only brought pride to Sikkim but have also placed India firmly on the global map of trail running. His incredible journey continues to inspire upcoming athletes while setting new standards of excellence in the sport.
