Labourer Confesses to Murder of North Sikkim Teacher; Motive Remains Unclear

November 26, 2024: Mangan, Sikkim: In a shocking incident, a labourer named Tashi Namgyal Lachenpa has confessed to the murder of Tinku Lepcha, a teacher whose body was found in the backyard of his home on November 24. The victim had been reported missing since November 19, raising concerns among his family.

The gruesome discovery came after the victim’s son alerted the police when his father failed to return home. Law enforcement officers found the body bearing multiple sharp-object wounds, yet no signs of a struggle or disturbance inside the house were detected. The unusual cleanliness of the scene deepened the mystery.

The case was handed over to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Chief Mani Kumar Tamang. Forensic experts confirmed that sharp instruments caused the wounds, but the careful placement of the body suggested premeditation.

Following intense interrogation, Tashi Namgyal, a local labourer acquainted with the victim, admitted to the crime. However, his motive remains under investigation. Authorities are working to uncover details about the relationship between the victim and the suspect to establish a clearer understanding of the events leading to the murder.
