Chief Minister P.S. Tamang met with Arvind Panagariya, Chairman of the 16th Finance Commission, and his delegation at the Tashiling Secretariat. Mr. Ajay Narayan Jha, Ms. Annie George Mathew, Dr. Manoj Panda, Mr. Ritvik Pandey, Mr. K.K. Mishra, Mr. Kumar Vivek, Mr. Davinder Chodha, Mr. Abhishek Nandan, Ms. Promila Rajvanshi, Dr. Bhabesh Hazarika, and Ms. Arushi Gupta are among the delegation members on visit to Sikkim from January 19 to 23. Upon arrival, the Sikkim Armed Police presented the Chairman with a Guard of Honor. The delegation was greeted by V.B. Pathak, Chief Secretary R. Telang, and other department heads.
During its visit, the Commission intends to undertake a number of meetings and interactions with important stakeholders, including Sikkim government leaders, urban and rural local bodies, various trade and industry sectors, and political parties. CM Tamang expressed appreciation for the visit, saying, " I sincerely express my gratitude for their gracious visit prior to the pivotal 16th Finance Commission Meeting.” The visit is intended to examine Sikkim's financial needs and plan future allocations, guaranteeing equitable growth and budgetary sustainability for the state.
