On April 15th, 2023, a team from the Citizen Action Party-Sikkim, led by Chief Coordinator Shri Ganesh K Rai, visited and offered prayers at the holy Gurudongmar Lake in North Sikkim. The team had arrived in Lachen on the evening of April 14th for a religious visit to the lake, but were denied a stay at a local hotel, allegedly due to pressure from top leaders of the ruling party.

Despite this setback, the team was able to reach the lake early in the morning of April 15th. Along the way, the Chief Coordinator had the opportunity to meet and interact with Indian Army personnel on duty and tourist vehicle drivers. The drivers raised concerns about poor road infrastructure and negligence by the Tourism Department of the Government of Sikkim. They noted that, despite being a popular tourist destination visited by hundreds and thousands of tourists annually, there is no help center operated by the Tourism Department at Gurudongmar Lake.

The Citizen Action Party-Sikkim commends the excellent services being provided by the Indian Army stationed in the border areas, and expresses gratitude to the Pipon of Lachen Dzumsa for their kind cooperation during the visit.
