Brown sugar worth Rs 30 crores seized, Six arrested from Siliguri

By Prashant Acharya Siliguri, 17th September: Special Operations Group (SOG) and Pradhan Nagar police station on Saturday evening seized brown sugar worth Rs. 30 crore from Siliguri. Six people were arrested with 4 kg of brown sugar in two raids conducted in two different locations of Siliguri. SOG team in plane clothes intercepted two persons from Durgagari area near Darjeeling More and while checking the bag found 2 kgs of Brown Sugar. Similarly the same group members were also arrested from Rajendra Nagar area of Siliguri Municipal Corporation along with 2 kgs of Brown Sugar. Among six member group five were from Murshidabad and one from Naxalbari. The consignment was brought from Murshidabad. The six arrested persons have been identified as Parimal Roy from Naxalbari and Babar Ali, Gafar Ali, Salim Seikh, Tazibur Rehaman and Karibul Islam from Murshidabad.
