By Prashant Acharya Siliguri, 27th August: Siliguri BJP leaders marched rally along Hill Cart Road on Tuesday evening in support of 12 hours Bandh called in Bengal on Wednesday. The ‘bandh’ is called to protest against the police action on those who took part in Nabana March. Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh along with BJP Siliguri leaders marched rally in Siliguri. Ghosh said that to protest against the action taken by the police is shameless and to protest BJP called 12 hours bandh which will be affected in Siliguri too. Meanwhile state government has issued notification that all government offices, institutions and other offices shall remain open and casual leave will be accepted from employees. The absence of employees on 28th August will be treated as ‘dies non’and no salary will be admissible unless such absence is covered under hospitalization, bereavement in the family, severe illness, childcare, maternity and other necessary leaves. The ruling TMC claimed that the strike call exposed the BJP's game plan to foment disturbances in the state exploiting people’s pain over the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor. “We are forced to give the dawn-to-dusk strike call for a general strike as this autocratic regime is turning a deaf ear to the voices of people, the demand for justice for the deceased doctor sister. Instead of justice, Mamata Banerjee’s police are turning on the peace-loving people of the state, who only wanted a safe and secure environment for women,” BJP state president and union minister Sukanta Majumdar said.
