Prashant Acharya Siliguri, 7th July: SSB personnel from 8th battalion carried rescue operation at the landslide hit Simana area along Indo-Nepal border under Darjeeling district on Friday morning. Yogesh Kumar Saini, Deputy Commandant of 8th battalion said that the landslide occurred at around 7 am at Near Simana View Point blocking the State Highway, Siliguri to Darjeeling after torrential rainfall since few days. SSB official received the information by Company Commander, asked BOP Simana and BOP Phoolkhola to rush at landslide site. Relief and rescue teams with full equipped team reach the spot and started the rescue operations with local villagers, after some time the state highway was opened after the soil was removed by the SSB RRT team.
