Forest Minister Leads Inspection in Dzongu Ahead of Khamsal Rituals at Tholung Monastery

Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, the Minister for Forest and Environment, led a joint inspection from Sangklang to Bey, Upper Dzongu, and its adjoining areas to address preparations for the upcoming auspicious Khamsal Rituals at Tholung Monastery. The Triellinal Khamsal Prayer, organized by the Tholung Monastery Committee, the panchayats of Sakyong Pentong GPU, and the Ecclesiastical Department, Government of Sikkim, will be held from November 20 to 22, 2024. The Minister was accompanied by Up-Adhakshya Mangan, DM Mangan, SDM Dzongu, BDO Dzongu, SP Mangan, RO Dzongu, JE PWD, AE PMGSY, AE RDD, officials from various departments, contractors, Zilla members, and gram panchayats. During the inspection, the team closely assessed road connectivity in the region. The Minister instructed the departments to coordinate with Zilla members, gram panchayats, and the celebration committee to ensure all works are executed as per the plan. He emphasized expediting repairs while maintaining quality to avoid future damages. Discussions also focused on ensuring adequate drinking water supply, proper washroom facilities, and parking arrangements for the event. The inspection reflects the government's commitment to ensuring a seamless and successful observance of the significant ritual in Upper Dzongu.
